Course synopsis |
This course is designed to equip participants with the required knowledge for teaching the new content in the revised H3 Chemistry syllabus. Teaching approaches and learning experiences for these topics will be dealt with during the discussion of the content knowledge. Participants will be encouraged to comment on the suggested teaching approaches and learning experiences from their schools’ perspectives. They will also design and present sample teaching materials and lesson plans for the above topics. |

At the end of the course, participants will be able to explain and discuss the following new content in the revised H3 Chemistry syllabus, and link these to the core ideas and concepts in H2 Chemistry.
• Molecular Orbital Theory • Fundamentals of Spectroscopy • Hammond Postulate • Bell-Evans-Polanyi Principle |
Outline |
There are two parts to this course:
• Part 1 focuses on the content knowledge, with the relevant teaching approaches and learning experiences being discussed alongside. • Back in their own schools, participants will design sample teaching materials and lesson plans for the above topics, which they will then present in Part 2 of the course |
