1. When can I register for the course?

You can register when the course schedules are available in the Professional Learning and Continuing Education (PLaCE) website.

2. How do I register for the course?

You can register online via PLaCE during the online application period.

3. When is the closing date for course registration?

The closing date for course registration is 1 month before course commencement. If you wish to register for a course that is already closed, please write in to inservice@nie.edu.sg.

4. Where are the courses conducted?

The venues of the courses are dependent on the courses you have registered for. Usually, the courses are conducted at the National Institute of Education (NIE) or Academy of Singapore Teachers (AST).

5. Will I receive an acknowledgment of my registration?

Yes, you will receive an email acknowledgement after your online registration. In the event you do not receive an acknowledgement, please write to us at inservice@nie.edu.sg.

6. What documents do I need to submit during registration?
  1. If you are registering for a Master’s level course, please upload a copy of your degree certificate and transcript.
  2. If you are registering for a course eligible for SkillsFuture funding or National Silver Academy funding, please upload a colored copy of your NRIC for verification of your eligibility for the funding.
7. What are the modes of payment?
  • Payment by Cheque
    Cheques should be made payable to the “National Institute of Education”. The name(s) of the participant(s) and course(s) should be clearly indicated on the reverse of the cheque and mailed to:

  • Payment by Credit Card (Visa, Mastercard)

  • Payment by E-invoicing
    For government organizations that use E-invoicing, please indicate the sub-BU number in the application form.
8. Can payment of course fee be made through instalment?

You will need to pay the full course fee. There are no instalments available for our courses.

9. What are the different types of funding available?

You can refer to the Funding Scheme tab on the menu or click here to find out more.

10. Do I need to pay additional charges for course materials?

Course fees are inclusive of all course materials, unless otherwise stated.

11. Will I receive an email notification/confirmation after payment has been made?

Upon successful payment, you will receive an email to confirm your registration.

12. Will I receive a confirmation of my placement in the course?

Yes, a course placement letter will be sent via email to inform you about course details.

13. Can I cancel my application?

To cancel your application, you will need to write to inservice@nie.edu.sg prior to your placement into the course. After your placement has been confirmed, there will be no refund of your course fees.

14. Can I send a replacement if I am unable to attend the course?

A replacement may be sent to attend the same course. However, if you are utilizing SkillsFuture Credit or enjoying the fee subsidy by SkillsFuture Singapore (SSG), no replacement is allowed. You will be required to cancel your SkillsFuture Credit claim.

15. What if the course I have enrolled in is cancelled?

NIE reserves the right to cancel a course. A full refund will be made to you.

16. What kind of certification will I receive?

For modular graduate courses, you will not be issued with any certificate. You can check your grades on the NIE Portal and print, if necessary.
For short courses, you will receive a Certificate of Accomplishment or Certificate of Attendance upon successful completion of the course.

17. How do I apply for accreditation to a programme?

For courses that can be accredited to a programme, you may complete the form here to seek accreditation.

18. How do I update my personal information?

You may self-update your personal information such as home address and contact number via PLaCE. For other information, please write to us at inservice@nie.edu.sg.

19. What if the course I am interested in is not found on PLaCE?

You may email us at inservice@nie.edu.sg with your course enquiries.

20. Why can't I view my receipt?

You may have blocked pop-ups, which prevents the notices window from appearing. To disable the "Block Pop-ups" function, you will need to go to your browser setting and uncheck the "block pop-up windows" (Firefox) or "Turn on Pop-up Blocker" (IE) or disable "Block Pop-ups" (Safari). If this message appears "Allow Pop-up", please click on "Yes" in order to view your receipt.

21. What are the supported browsers that I use to access for the site?

The site supports IE version 11, Firefox 20 and later, Chrome and Safari.

22. What do I do if I forget my password?

If you forget your password, you may request for a new one. Click on "Forget Password" in the pop-up Login window that appears after clicking on Login/Register. You will be required to key in your email address.
