Objective

The UNESCO AI Competencies for Teachers framework has identified specific competencies deemed essential for educators considering the increasing development and prevalence of AI use in education.

In this two-day workshop, teachers will develop competencies related to AI-assisted teaching and AI-enabling lifelong professional learning by engaging in discussions, designing a lesson plan and trialling it with an AI-enabled classroom interaction simulator, as well as a sharing of lesson plans to gain new ideas and deeper insights . In addition, teachers will use learning analytics to consolidate their learning and development from the workshop.

By the end of this course, participants should be able to:

  1. Identify combinations of human-centred mindset, ethical principles, and conceptual knowledge on AI in the analyses of example lessons and use them to explain decisions on whether AI should be used and what AI should be used in their teaching practices.

  2. Use an AI-enabled classroom interaction simulator for professional development to critically reflect on subject-matter knowledge, pedagogical skills, and peer learning in a lesson plan.

As such, group registration will be prioritised so that participants can gain the most out of the workshop and support each other after the workshop to translate their learning to the classroom. Teachers who sign up individually will be assigned into groups consisting of teachers who may be from different schools and have different subject expertise.

The group should bring along an existing lesson plan that they could modify to include the use of AI.
