Course synopsis |
This is a hands-on skills development course conducted through online synchronous and unsynchronous delivery. The objective of this course is to (1) deepen the understanding of the research methods in order to scope research projects to solve educational challenges, and (2) gain practical experiences in applied statistics (quantitative data analysis) as well as qualitative coding (qualitative data analysis). The aim of the course is to provide participants with the skills to confidently design a research project and conduct a basic repertoire of data analyses both quantitatively and qualitatively and interpret the results in light of their inquiry project. |

Objective |
After attending the course, participants will be able to:
1. identify and apply an appropriate research methodology and data collection strategy for their inquiry project; 2. understand data-driven conversations and how it guides the collaborative inquiry work in PLTs; 3. use appropriate tools to analyse student data to better understand the link between pedagogical intervention and student outcomes; 4. understand how data is used qualitatively and quantitatively to evaluate the effectiveness of their inquiry project; and 5. apply basic statistical tools in analyzing educational data (e.g., SPSS and AMOS). |
