Course synopsis

This course will introduce the participant to issues about teaching climate change at the upper secondary level. Research shows that Singapore students have been found to hold misconceptions similar to those reported in the research literature elsewhere in the world. The course will introduce the content and pedagogy that teachers can use to help students correct these misconceptions.

Objective

By the end of this course, participants should be able to:

  1. Identify the key misconceptions that their students have in the topic of climate change.

  2. Describe a lesson to teach students how to refute climate change misconceptions

The course will cover the following areas:

  1. Identification of key climate change misconceptions

  2. Refutation texts as pedagogy to correct misconceptions
