Demonstrating hands-on activities in physics topics and their pedagogy

Course synopsis

This course addresses lower secondary science demonstrations in physics topics and their pedagogy. The topics covered include Ray Model of Light, Model of matter, Application of Forces and Transfer of Energy, Transfer of Heat Energy and its Effects, Electrical Systems in the Lower secondary science syllabus. The course involves interesting hands-on activities using various science materials to demonstrate key concepts for lower secondary students. Some demonstrations will investigate real-life examples and may extend slightly beyond the syllabus as informal science learning. Participants will also be given opportunities to discuss how to incorporate these demonstrations into lower secondary science classrooms.
