To examine the strategies related to integrating technology, engineering and mathematics in science learning. Students working with STEM problems will better understand the epistemic nature of science and teachers will be better prepared to meet the goals of primary science education in Singapore.

Objective

Upon completion of this course, participants would be able to:

1. Understand background/goals and frameworks/curriculum of STEM education and how disciplines are connected
2. Identify how to assess and support students’ learning in STEM education
3. Discuss how to implement STEM education based on case studies of a range of maker spaces, collaborative learning areas and teaching models
4. Set authentic questions and develop a STEM activity based on a framework of STEM education

Pre-requisite

a. Diploma in Education (Dip Ed) OR
b. Postgraduate Diploma in Education (PGDE) from NIE or equivalent.
